CBS released a photo of their upcoming remake of DC’s Supergirl, E Online reports. The newest flick will star Glee's Melissa Beniost which is seen in her full super glory.
The costume is done by Oscar winner Colleen Atwood, the designer behind the superhero costumes of The Flash and Arrow. Atwood said in an interview that in designing Supergirl, she wanted it to embrace the past but will push her into the street-style action hero of the modern time. So there you go tights and a skirt, a very hip girl super hero.
The pilot episode, according to United Daily News will star Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter which is projected to be filmed this week.
It will be followed an episode that will show Kara Zor-El (Supergirl) of the planet Krypton. She then will arrive on Earth but will he hiding her powers. After 24 years of hiding her powers, she finally grew and learns to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was destined to be, Supergirl.
CBS head Nina Tassler said that the viewers will be watching an evolution of a superhero, which involves humanity, flaws and relatability.
Supergirl will also headline Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh, Mehcad Brooks, Helen Slater and Dean Cain. Incidentally, Dean Cain played Superman in the 90s.
The series titled Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman ran for four seasons and ended in 1997. Desperate Housewives’ Teri Hatcher played the other title role Lois Lane.
