Amazon just created a breakthrough that aims to improve every shopper's experience. The e-commerce company launched a grocery store that enables shoppers to purchase products without spending so much time checking everything out in the counter.
The 1800-square-foot Amazon Go located in Seattle uses technology that makes any normal shopping less time consuming and stressing. The only thing that customers have to do is to download the Go app to enter the store, pick their desired product and then leave as soon as they are finished with their shopping, as reported by Tech Crunch. Products purchased will be charged on the customer's Amazon account after it is calculated online.
The Amazon Go, uses "computer vision and sensors" that is able to detect everything a shopper gets for himself. No need to scan the products, it automatically detects what was purchased inside. With the technology that this newly launch grocery has to offer, there would also be no need to wait, thus minimizing the time spent in purchasing groceries.
"We asked ourselves: what if we could create a shopping experience with no lines and no checkout?" Amazon shared on their official website. "Could we push the boundaries of computer vision and machine learning to create a store where customers could simply take what they want and go?" These questions are what birthed the idea for what has now became the most high-tech store in the world.
The newly launched Amazon Go offers everything a person needs in a local convenience store. They offer drinks, salads and sandwiches, snacks and groceries. Soon the store will also sell "Blue Apron-like meal kits" that will enable its customers to cook their own delicacies.
Amazon Go is still not open to public as its services are still limited to Amazon employees only, as posted by The Verge. But the company already has plans to open it to all Amazon customers sometime next year.
