The Song Ji Hyo starrer "This Week, My Wife is Having an Affair" recently closed its final chapter with impressive TV ratings. With the JTBC drama's successful 12-episode run, the "Running Man" shared her thoughts about her role in the series.
In "This Week, My Wife is Having an Affair," Song portrayed Jung Soo Yeon, a woman who juggles several life roles as a mother, wife and a career woman. After questioning the emptiness of her life, Soo Yeon decided to put herself first and explored a new relationship with another man.
With Soo Yeon reflecting on her life and discovering how she somehow lost herself amidst all of her responsibilities, the "Running Man" cast member admitted that she felt a certain kinship with her character. In an interview with Korean news outlet My Daily, Song confessed the she has a lot in common with Soo Yeon.
Having encountered the script for the JTBC drama during a time in the actress' life when she was trying her best to "survive," Song sympathized with her character's predicament and felt strongly towards Soo Yeon. The said character's plotline also made the South Korean celebrity reflect on her own life journey, according to Song.
The "Running Man" cast member also commented that cheating "just because" a person wants to explore having an affair is wrong. Soo Yeon's decision eventually destroyed her marriage but Song stated that she still understood how her character's loneliness have pushed her to consider adultery.
With the JTBC series' finale posting TV ratings of 3 percent, an impressive feat for a South Korean cable network, Song even shared that the ending contained a special message to fans. Given Soo Yeon's journey and struggles, viewers can be reminded not to lose track of the things that are important to them.
In other news, Song signed an exclusive contract with a new entertainment agency namely MY Company. In a press statement, as obtained by OSEN, the firm disclosed the actress' long history with the company's top executives that influenced her decision to join the entertainment agency. It appears that Song had previous collaborations with the founders of MY Company over the past 10 years.
