Former UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey retaliated Amanda Nunes' comment that she would get knocked out in the first round in their UFC 207 fight saying that the current champ "gasses out in the second" round of her bouts.
The returning Rousey, who has not fought inside the Octagon ever since she lost the bantamweight title to Holly Holm November last year, barely batted an eyelash with Nunes' claims in an appearance on late night talk show 'Conan' last Wednesday, as reported by Mail Online.
The 29-year-old rebutted her opponent's statements by saying Nunes is notorious for running out of steam during the second round of her fights, that is why the need to knock out Rousey in the first round.
Before, Rousey has been the sole face of the women's division in UFC after winning her first six fights in the mixed martial arts promotions in just the first round, mostly through her iconic armbar finish. Today, many have flourished in the division with her absence, namely, Holm, Nunes, Valentina Shevchenko and Sarah Kaufman. But instead of feeling left out, Rousey shared she is happy for the other women fighters.
In a report by Fox Sports, Rousey said she is not planning of talking much trash against Nunes and only wants to play the 'World of Warcraft,' the videogame that keeps her busy aside from her trainings. The American fighter is known to be one of the tough trashtalkers in the UFC even among men.
Aside from her upcoming fight, Rousey talked about the end of her career. She bared that she would not retire after her clash with Nunes but cleared that her retirement would be "definitely soon."
UFC 207 will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Dec. 30 and will feature bouts of former UFC champions TJ Dillashaw and Cain Velasquez. Dominick Cruz and Cody Garbrandt will co-headline the event as they vie for the bantamweight championship.
