AnyArts Productions, a French indie developer, has announced their newest game "Seasons of Heaven" and have also confirmed that the game is going to be a Nintendo Switch exclusive. It is also confirmed that the game runs on Unreal Engine 4.
The game is based on a French novel of the same name by author Nico Augusto, Gameblog reported. Several screenshots have also been released, introducing gamers to the protagonist Yann and his ally, a French bulldog named Ani. Other key characters from the novel have yet to be confirmed for the game.
"Seasons of Heaven" is described as a modern adventure game and will focus on the journeys of Yann, a young boy suffering from Asperger's syndrome. The majority of the showcased images focus on the green environments and Yann travelling through this world.
The original book that the game is based on revolves around the story of the environment's destruction and how it was caused by humanity's own actions. However, the novel also dives into multiple perspectives while the game will focus on Yann and his dog.
Players won't be restricted solely to Yann, however. The dog Ani will also be playable, Eurogamer reported. Switching between the two characters will be crucial for traversing set locations and to solve puzzles.
Running on the Unreal Engine 4 also showcases the prowess of the Nintendo Switch. Several AAA games on the PS4 and Xbox One run on this game engine such as Capcom's "Street Fighter V," the upcoming "Final Fantasy VII Remake," "Shenmue III" and Bandai Namco's "Tekken 7."
The exact mechanics of the game are still unknown as the developers have yet to give a demonstration. No footage of the game in action has yet been showcased but it is expected to be revealed during the next Nintendo Direct video in January 2017.
No release date has yet been announced for "Seasons of Heaven."
