The latest details for "Sword Art Online" season 3 will feature two possible plots for the anime and a release date announcement on January next year.
Several rumors are making rounds regarding the plot of "Sword Art Online" season 3 as two possible story arcs could be used in the anime's return. Anime producer Shinichiro Kashiwada hinted in an interview that he would like to see Kirito and the rest of 'SAO' characters featured in the "Alicization" arc in "SAO" season 3 since the storyline has not yet incorporated in the anime show.
However, Kashiwada also mentioned the "Progressive" novels, which he feels he could also be used in season 3, hence anime fans will likely see both stories within the show, Anime News Network reported.
The "Alicization" arc in "Sword Art Online" will feature a new chapter involving Kirigaya Kazuto/Kirito's new job for a mysterious organization called Rath, under orders the VR Crime Division officer Kikouka Seijiro. Kirito will be testing out a new experimental 4th generation FullDive machine dubbed "Soul Translator" as he tries to observes its effects on people and gather more valuable data.
However, Kirito is not aware that Rath is using "Soul Translator" for military purposes. As the machine became compliant, it created a new virtual world called "Underworld", where in time there is a thousand times faster than the real world. At some point Kirito became trapped in Underworld and will live eleven years of his life as a child.
As for the Progressive novels, is a series of chapters that serves as a reboot of the original light manga illustrated by Himura Hiseki and was published by Dengeki G's Comics after they parted ways with the main magazine branch.
In other news, it seems that the announcement fo "SAO" season 3 could happen during the Yuki Kajiura concert on Jan. 14, 2017 at the at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood & Highland, California.
The Japanese composer and producer will be utilizing music from "Sword Art Online" in her very first solo concert as concert will serve as a way for "Sword Art Online" anime producers to announce its third season, as well as introducing the cast members of the live-action version of the anime, FXNewsCall reported.
It is speculated that the "Sword Art Online" live-action series could be in production first before the anime's season 3, while others claim that season 3 could be in the works after "Ordinal Scale". The live-action "Sword Art Online" series could be shown on Netflix.
