Cate Blanchett, the newest "Cinderella" villain, has adopted a baby girl. The Australian actress, who is married to Andrew Upton, wanted to increase the size of her family; hence, made a baby girl her own and named her Edith Vivian Patricia Upton, the Fox News reported.
Blanchett once shared that she, together with her husband, wanted to make the family bigger, but did not actually specified if they wanted to add a rose to their all-boy family. Upton and Blanchett have been extremely by juggling with each other's career and raising three sons Dashiel John, 13; Roman Robert, 10; and Ignatius Martin, seven.
"I would love to raise more children," she said in a statement. "Just when, I don't know. But the thing is, we hadn't planned any of the others. They just popped out. So you shouldn't over-plan these things. If it happens, it would be great," she added.
The baby's name was initially reported inaccurately; however, the couple was quick to release a statement to correct the error, the USA Today said.
Stephanie Gonzalez, the "Blue Jasmine" actress PR representative, issued a statement that aside from the baby Edith's name, no other details will be divulged.
Upton, the 49-year-old playwright husband, is currently working with her on a project entitled "The Present," an adaptation of Anton Chekhov's work at Australia's Sydney Theatre Company.
The 45-year-old actress has already won two Oscars for the movies "The Aviator" and "Blue Jasmine." She is a daughter of a Texas advertising executive and an Australian teacher.
