AMD Ryzen has been finally revealed after months of Zen hype and marketing. With its specs and features, and hopefully a relatively cheaper price, the company hopes to convert more Intel users to an avid AMD fan.
The AMD Zen based CPU architecture is slated for release Q1 of 2017. Although there is still no news for its definitive price even after the New Horizon event last December 13, gaming enthusiasts and tech-savvys alike are already expressing their excitement via social media and various forum platforms.
Based on a separate report, it is being hinted that AMD Ryzen pricing will somehow be more consumer-friendly, as it aims to thwart down the momentum of Intel Core i7 6900K with a street price of $1,050. In a scenario presented by PC World, the Zen based CPU will likely be around $800 or lower. With the said price offering, Intel is expected to have a very little maneuvering room for the price of Ryzen's counterpart.
Now, apart from the price being unknown, other specs of the upcoming Zen CPU are yet to be revealed. The Turbo Boos, TPD, Turbo Boost Max are some of the specs that AMD has kept secret as per PC World. Nevertheless, the Zen processor will still be tempting, especially its 8-cores similar to that of the Intel i7-6900k and its much higher Base Frequency at 3.4GHz.
Under such circumstances, AMD Zen offers 40% IPC performance uplift according to ArsTechnica. This would mean a better cache system, better core engine, and much aggressive clock gating with multi-level regions. Overall, AMD Ryzen offers a totally new high performance core design, simultaneous multithreading for high throughput, with energy-efficient FinFET design scale.
That being given, AMD's latest offering will surely entice gamers and PC users alike to convert from Intel to AMD, especially if the rumored Ryzen price will be realized come 2017. Guess we would just have to wait and see how AMD will market their latest Zen based processors.
