Super Mario Run is now available as free download for iOS devices - iPhone, iPad and iPod - but in order to fully access Nintendo's first truly mobile game one has to shell out $10 to get the key. But the good news is - the spending stops there (as there is no in-app purchase) and what ensues is optimal enjoyment with the world's favorite running and jumping plumber.
CNET said the game is iOS exclusive for now but by 2017 an Android version will arrive but the touchdown timing remains unknown. Also, gamers have the option to pick Luigi, Toad and Yoshi (aside from Mario) as their runner and for sure the running and jumping experience (by tapping the screen with a finger) will be distinct for each character.
As mentioned, Super Mario Run is ready across the iOS platform but as the rendering is nearly identical it appears that the optimal gaming experience will be on the iPhone, preferably the phablet 5.5-inch Plus edition. Sure, the iPad version gives the bigger screen treatment but extended gameplay on the tablet will likely result to hand strain.
And it will be quite a stretch to see through the multiple levels of each world and slug it out with Bowser in order to conquer a castle. Nintendo has mapped 24 challenging but fun-filled levels to six distinct worlds in Super Marion Run, and in such case one will need unlimited amount of power juice if the plan is for an extended playtime.
Now unlimited battery on an iPhone or iPad may not be possible but BGR shared bits of hacks to keep the fun going while jumping and running with Mario. The first obvious thing to do is to play on a fully-charged device and then apply these simple tweaks - activating the Low Power Mode that will mostly kill background apps activities and by sliding the device brightness to as far left as possible or to the low brightness level that will still permit decent gameplay experience.
Within the Super Mario Run app, gamers can also tinker with the game display configuration by heading to Settings > Options and in there dial down both the Rendering Setting and Graphics Setting to Low. For sure, the mobile game will remain enjoyable while delivering extra hours of enjoyment.
But to really make sure that Super Mario Run will last on an iPhone or iPad for as long as possible, the best solution available is the trusty portable charger that can be had for as low as $10 a pop. A unit with 10000mAh rating, for instance, will be able to deliver power juice that is equivalent to nearly four charge up cycles.
