Despite "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" serving as a soft reboot for the franchise it will be bringing back a few familiar characters such as Orlando Bloom as Will Turner. It is now hinted that Keira Knightley will also be brought back to reprise her role as Turner's wife, Elizabeth Swann.
According to Too Fab, the actress had secretly shot a few scenes for the film. However, the details suggest she is not going to be a prominent character in the film and that her scene is merely a cameo at the end of the movie. This will, however, set up her appearance in a potential sixth film.
The character Elizabeth Swann was one of the main characters in the first film, alongside Will Turner and Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow. She returned to reprise the role in the second and third entries but both Knightley and Bloom did not return in the fourth film.
In the third film's conclusion Will Turner took over as the captain of the Flying Dutchman, essentially becoming an immortal responsible for ferrying the dead to the afterlife. He and Swann did marry, however, and had a son. This son, Henry, will be featured in "Dead Men Tell No Tales," portrayed by Brenton Thwaites.
Will Turner, as the new Davy Jones, can only walk on land once every ten years. According to Screen Rant, this may explain why Elizabeth does not appear until the very ending of the film as it would be the moment Turner docks on land to reunite with her for one day.
It is further stated that the next movie may even see Will Turner be freed of his curse or begin a new quest, setting up the events for Elizabeth to get involved once again. This would then become the focus of a sixth film.
"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" releases in theatres on May 26, 2017.
