Luca Todesco has confirmed that an iOS 10 jailbreak will be out soon based on version 10.1.1 but the dev is yet to commit on a specific release date. The wait could be over before 2016 ends or jailbreak fans will need to stretch their patience a bit and look forward for an early 2017 arrival of the next JB tool.
So while waiting, Todesco has urged restraint in jumping to iOS 10.2 as doing so will lead to being locked out from his upcoming jailbreak. The latest version of Apple's mobile operating system is a jailbreak-killer, Todesco said.
For those who made the jump but would want to get the Todesco jailbreak, iOS hackers said now is the time to downgrade as Apple is likely to stop signing 10.1.1 real soon, possibly this week. Last check, downgrading from 10.2 is still possible but in case the door is abruptly closed there remains one big hope to the jailbreak route.
And that would be the new hacking tool Prometheus with tsschecker, according to WCCFTech. The companion jailbreak utility is the brainchild of security researcher tihmstar and was chiefly designed "to effortlessly downgrade or upgrade (iOS) device firmware without worrying about it being signed or not."
Prometheus for most jailbreak fans is straightforward as the prerequisites for its use are simple - a jailbroken iPhone or iPad that must be 64-bit and one "must have SHSH blobs saved for the particular firmware you are downgrading or upgrading to." The latter is somewhat complicated but the video guide below should shed some light.
Or the tutorial on the process shared by iDownloadBlog.com should do the trick. As the same report stated, it will be some bits of work but when completed hopping from one iOS firmware to another, whether on to downgrade or upgrade path, will prove a mere walk in the park.
Prometheus by tihmstar will break into the jailbreak scene on New Year's Eve, giving hope for jailbreak fans that will get stuck on iOS 10.2. And when the Tedesco iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak gets out, the JB tool is assured of making millions quite happy, partly thanks to Prometheus.
