Kim Jong Kook's future plans after "Running Man" have been revealed. The star's agency has confirmed that he will be a part of the upcoming "Running Man" Asia tour, which kicks off in January 2017.
Kim shot to popularity after featuring on the SBS variety show and was a regular cast member on the program ever since its debut in 2010. The singer/TV personality previously went on a "Running Man" tour to the United States and China. In spite of the ongoing controversy surrounding the show, he intends to fulfill his duty as a cast member one last time.
The "Running Man" tour will take place between January 2017 and March 2017 and cast members will travel to two Asian cities every month to meet and interact with their fans. However, Gary and Yoo Jae Suk will be unable to attend the tour due to other work commitments, All Kpop reported.
Fans will be delighted to learn that Kim will continue to pursue his singing career after "Running Man" airs its final episode in February 2017. Kim is currently working on a new album with his band TURBO, which also comprises of Kim Jung-nam and Mikey.
Kim revealed that he has also been collaborating with Duble Sidekick since last summer and has recorded several tracks with the duo. As TURBO's upcoming album is due for release early in 2017, Kim's tour might serve as the comeback stage for the South Korean band.
"TURBO's album is nearing completion but as Kim Jong Kook's Asia tour will take place from January to March he will be active overseas during the early part of the year," Maroo Entertainment said in a statement obtained by Koreaboo. The album will be released as soon as they finalize on a title track.
The makers of "Running Man" decided to end the show following the recent controversy over Kim and Song Ji Hyo's departure from the show. The producers of the show faced backlash from fans after the stars revealed that they were dropped from the program without notice.
