Speculations are rife that the much-anticipated book "Winds of Winter" may finally release in January 2017. There are also rumors that "A Dream of Spring" is also ready to be published.
The sixth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" is said to be currently being proof-read and it will be available for the readers in the near future. If the book is really released in January 2017, as rumored then it will be right on time before the TV adaptation of the book series "Game of Thrones" Season 7 releases. Infact, "Game of Thrones" Season 7 is also delayed and is expected to premiere in May or June 2017.
In a podcast interview, "Game of Thrones" creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss revealed that the seventh season of the show is delayed. One of the reasons why the show is delayed is because the team has to portray winter in the series and as a result, they have to wait for snow in their shooting locations.
Meanwhile, one of the reasons attributed to the delay in finishing "Winds of Winter" is that Martin was not happy with the sixth season of the show and hence had to rewrite major chunks of "Winds of Winter" in order to keep the suspense of the book intact. "Game of Thrones" Season 6 revealed a number of spoilers for the book and so Martin had to re-work the plot to quite an extent.
"Winds of Winter" spoilers indicate that the author George R. R. Martin is planning some more deaths of the key characters in this book. Jon Snow, Queen Mother Cersei, Mother of Dragons - Daenerys Targaryen and the shrew Tyrion Lannister are all expected to perish in the book. There are also rumors that Targaryen may also marry the dwarf Lannister and then rule over Westeros.
On the other hand, Martin just released a graphic novel "The Mystery Knight" according to a post on his journal Not a Blog. It is the third installment in his Dunk & Egg series.
