This year's SBS Gayo Daejun is set to be bigger than ever. BIGBANG's leader G-Dragon, 28, is confirmed to be sharing the stage with CL, 25, for an epic performance.
On Dec. 20, Tuesday, an SBS official confirmed to The Kpop Herald that G-Dragon and CL will hold a collaborative performance at the upcoming SBS Gayo Daejun. It is said that the stage will be produced by Teddy Park and there is a plausibility that another two rappers will join the group.
"G-Dragon and CL will be holding a special stage at the 2016 'SAF Music Awards'," the official said, adding that the two are still discussing the song choice. "The stage concept and whether there will be other rappers has not been revealed yet."
Though nothing is official yet, the first of these rappers have been revealed as the winner of "Show Me the Money 5" named BewhY. It is said that CL and G-Dragon personally picked the 23-year-old rapper to be with them on stage.
In addition to G-Dragon and CL, 12 Kpop groups are joining forces for a special collaborative performance, according to local newsoutler Xsports News, as cited by Soompi. They will be divided into two teams based on their gender.
The female idol team will have 49 members coming from Momoland, LABOUM, DIA, Gugudan, CLC and Cosmic Girls aka WJSN. The male idol team, on the other hand, only consists of 42 members from Snuper, Astro, Pentagon, HALO, SF9 and KNK.
The 12 Kpop groups, who are currently said to be busy preparing for the annual event, were chosen in light of the fact that they are some of the idols who made their mark in the entertainment industry this year. The collaboration will also feature performances of each group's most popular track.
This year's SBS Gayo Daejun will air on Dec. 26 at 8:55 PM (KST) and will be hosted by EXO's Baekhyun, You Hee-Yeol and Girls' Generation member Yuri. Below is the first official line-up for the upcoming event:
