In December 2015, Samsung had announced Galaxy A7 (2016) smartphone. After one year, again Samsung is about to announce Galaxy A7 (2017) with upgraded specifications. Here is the comparison of these two smartphones based on their specifications and features.

Design and Display

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) is a ultra-thin phone that comes in a metal-glass combination design. The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) is also said to be a slim phone packed in aluminum body. Its rear is expected to be covered with 3D glass for protection. It is rumored to be the first Galaxy A series smartphone to come with IP68 certified water and dust resistant chassis, Android Authority reported.

The Galaxy A7 (2016) has a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED full HD screen that provides a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixel. Its screen comes with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The Galaxy A7 (2017) will be sporting a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED full HD display that has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and screen will be covered with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 4 for protection.   

Chipset, RAM and Storage

The Galaxy A7 (2016) comes in chipset variants Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 and Exynos 7580 chipset for different markets. Its available in 16 GB native storage with 3 GB of RAM. Its memory can be further extended up to 256 GB through microSD card.

The Galaxy A7 (2017) is expected to have Exynos 7880 processor that will be supported by 3 GB of RAM. It is likely to come in native storage variants such as 32 GB and 64 GB. It will also feature a microSD slot to expand storage capacity up to 256 GB

Software, Camera and Other Features

The Galaxy A7 (2016) is preinstalled with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and can be upgraded to Android 6.1 Marshmallow whereas Galaxy A7 (2017) is said to run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS.The upcoming A7 is also expected to receive Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) has a 13-megapixel rear facing camera and a 5-megapixel front camera with rear LED flash. On the other hand Galaxy A7 (2016) is rumored to have a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. It will have a front facing selfie shooter of 16-megapixel.

The Galaxy A7 (2016) is featured with fingerprint scanner on front side embedded under the Home button. In the same way, the Galaxy A7 (2017) is also expected to have a front-facing fingerprint sensor.

Battery and Price

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) is packed with 3,300 mAh non-removable battery along with fast charging feature whereas Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) is expected to come with 3,500 mAh or 3,600 mAh battery with fast charging technology, Phone Arena reported.

In China, it was the 2016 model was launched with a pricing of $420. The Galaxy A7 (2017) price is expected to range around $450.
