Even after a loss against Mickey Gall last Saturday in Sacramento, Sage Northcutt took home the second-highest disclosed payday at FOX UFC Fight Night: VanZant vs. Waterson, raking in $60,000 in his second career loss in the mixed martial arts promotion.
Northcutt, or fondly called as "Super," even took home a bigger payday than his opponent Gall, who won his fourth consecutive mixed martial arts fight and third straight in the UFC, as reported by Fox Sports.
Gall took home only $40,000 ($20,000 to show and $20,000 to win) according to the California State Athletic Commission's disclosed salary figures while the fighter he defeated through a rear-naked choke submission in the second round of their fight earned 33 percent more than him.
Meanwhile, veteran UFC fighter Urijah Faber took the biggest payday of the event after raking in $320,000 ($160,000 to show and $160,000 to his victory) when he beat Brad Pickett through a unanimous decision. Faber, who lost two straight fights prior to this win, announced before that the bout against Pickett would be his last of his five-year UFC career. 'The California Kid,' according to Sherdog, will hang up his gloves with a 34-10 mixed martial arts record and a 10-6 UFC card.
In the main fight of the event, Michelle Waterson went home with $80,000 after winning against Paige ZanVant. She earned $15,000 to the show, another $15,000 for the win and the $50,000 bonus for taking the 'Performance of the Night' award after submitting ZanVant with just 3:21 into the first round.
Vanzant, meanwhile, scored $43,000 even in her loss.
Leslie Smith, who beat neophyte UFC fighter Irena Aldana, raked in $100,000 after winning $50,000 for her victory and another $50,000 for sharing the 'Fight of the Night' honors with Aldana, who earned a disclosed amount of $62,000.
Paul Craig was also one of the few to take home a big amount of money with a $70,000 payday when he took home $10,000 each to the show and for the win and the $50,000 for sharing 'Performance of the Night' with Waterson.
