Samsung could be putting a new Beast Mode technology in the upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship smartphone. The feature was spotted in the documents for Samsung's trademark registration in EU.
The Beast Mode term itself is something new to the tech industry. It does exist but only in memes and some video games. Samsung's Galaxy S8 could be the first to carry the new tech which is expected to bring a more powerful experience for the user.
Unfortunately, the Galaxy S8 itself is not mentioned in the application details. It does, however, state that it will be applied to smartphones, tablets and Netbook computers from Samsung.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 could have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC and 8GB RAM which could be toned down by default to save battery life, according to Forbes. The Beast Mode could simply turn the whole power of the device on especially when gaming or watching videos.
Samsung's next GearVR system might also be the reason for the Beast Mode tech in the Galaxy S8, Know Your Mobile reported. The increase in graphical power means that the overall VR experience will be better compared to the phone's predecessors.
Throttling the speeds of the chip is not an uncommon practice in today's smartphones. Most people do not even know that their smartphones go underclocked when idle to save battery.
Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 debacle forces the South Korean tech giant to up their ante and release new devices that would make up for their loss. Besides the iPhone 8, the Galaxy S8 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2017 as people expect it to carry the latest SoC and best specs to date.
There is no official announcement yet from Samsung but they could reveal the Galaxy S8 and possibly the Beast Mode tech too at the upcoming CES 2017 or MWC 2017 event. Fans will have to wait to know what the technology will bring to the table.
