Being a WWE superstar is a very exhausting task as it requires risking your body every night, constant travel and uncanny backstage politics. One top WWE star reportedly is "tired of taking bumps" which is a sign that his time with the company is drawing to a close.
Some of the superstars rumored to be leaving the WWE this year include The Undertaker, John Cena, Chris Jericho and Cesaro. In a recent interview on the Two Man Power Trip podcast, Kenny Bolin believes that Cena is tired of taking bumps in the ring.
Bolin, who worked as a manager in Ohio Valley Wrestling, was close to Cena during his developmental days. He noted that Cena could leave because he wants to do other things outside of wrestling despite being the WWE's biggest draw.
"He is basically still the biggest draw in the company even though they are trying to put that saddle on somebody else. I think Cena even though he said he would never leave wrestling, Cena wants to do other things now. It looks like Cena is tired of taking bumps every f***ing night," Bolin said.
It should be noted that this was just an opinion from Bolin and it did not directly come from Cena. However, there are rumors earlier this month that points to the 39-year-old superstar becoming a part-timer.
Cena recently hosted "Saturday Night Live" and it will pave the way for more Hollywood gigs. The same thing happened to The Rock in 2000 as his SNL hosting gig landed him The Scorpion King movie role. Now, The Rock is the highest-paid actor in the world and his movies are box office hits.
The 15-time WWE world champion got several hosting gigs this year and he ended 2016 by getting cast in a comedy film set for release next year. The WWE has become worried about his status and there were even reports of tension between Cena and Vince McMahon, per Daily Wrestling News.
Nevertheless, these are just purely speculative at the moment but the WWE can hide the fact that Cena's popularity outside of wrestling is growing. It is only a matter of time before he becomes a full-fledged movie star and part-time WWE superstar.
Cena is set to return on the December 27 episode of SmackDown Live. For more WWE news, rumors and updates, follow me on Twitter at @johnnyrundown.
