Apple's smartwatch was anticipated to be the next smartphone. With all its functions and options it was meant to sweep the industry but somehow, the touchscreen seems to have spoiled the show.
Touch screens use up too much battery, not allowing the watch to function for more than 2 to 4 hours on a single charge. In real world, that's not even practical. Apple is compromising on a lot of variety and features just for the touchscreen, when it's actually not really needed, as per reports by SMH.
Heavier devices like the iPhone could use the touchscreen even if they use more power as they handle larger batteries. But devices like a watch can do without them as the space due to smaller batteries can be used for adding better functions on the watch. SmartWatches with buttons and rollers would not hamper the device in any way as long as they can add to its practical and functional abilities, as reported by NDTV.
Customers would not read books or articles on a watch. Many of these other options that Apple wants enabled on the smart watch would be too cumbersome to handle. Customers would naturally turn to their other devices for more. What people need are more options and functions that would make their day to day activities simpler and efficient if they have their smart watch on them.
Apple has scheduled an Apple Watch event in San Francisco this Monday that begins at 10 AM titled 'Spring Forward' after its smart watch. The event held at Yerba Buena Center is expected to give some surprises over the already released information about the watch. Would Apple actually introduce a better and more practical battery or would it let go of the TouchScreen? That will have to wait and watch.
