Celebrity chef Lee Chan Oh of "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator" fame and model/entertainer Kim Sae Rom announced on Dec. 23, Friday, that they are getting a divorce. The couple's marriage lasted for one year and four months.
"The two [Lee and Kim] recently filed their divorce papers," the couple's reps confirmed in a statement obtained by All Kpop. "They decided to end their marriage and start the steps for a divorce by consent. After separating for a while, they eventually decided to divorce.
The reps further stated that the couple's decision to call it quits on the marriage was taken after failed efforts to overcome career and lifestyle differences. They added that further details will not be disclosed as it is a personal matter between Lee and Kim.
The estranged couple started dating after being introduced to each other through a common friend. They tied the knot four months later in August 2015.
Kim shot to fame after appearing in a 2004 Supermodel Contest and has since featured on several variety shows including, "Section TV Entertainment News" and "My Little Television." Lee, on the other hand, became popular after starring in cooking TV programs like "Olive Show" and "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator.
The couple's divorce announcement comes months after the Lee was caught up in a cheating controversy. In May, the star chef was accused of having an extra-marital affair after a video of him getting intimate with another woman leaked on the Internet.
The video footage showed a man who appeared to Lee getting cosy with another woman seated on his lap. The clip led many to believe that the chef was cheating on his wife. However, Lee and Kim's publicly denied the rumors, claiming that there had been a misunderstanding and that the woman in the video is an old friend of Lee, according to Soompi.
