Funimation, who owns the North American license to stream Attack on Titan, released the official promo preview for season 2 of the post-apocalyptic anime series. The videos teases upcoming battles and two debuting titan shifters that you all want to see.
The hype is for real. Attack on Titan, also known as Shingeki no Kyojin, has always been known for its sick battles and drama-filled scenes. The first season proves that it doesn't need laser beams or a huge ninja army to make a battle scene groundbreaking in scale, all needed for you to see is a sword-wielding troops and a rampaging titan (Rogue Titan) seeking for freedom.
Promo video for Season 2 suggests that the upcoming season will be catering the same delicious buffet of action, drama and mystery all in one table. And honestly, the visual is more stunning as compared to the previous season, which was already 24K Gold by anime standard.
So what does the promo video say to us, SNK fans? It only backs up what we thought WIT Studio would do: to pick up where the series left off. With the chronological order of events in Hajime Isayama's manga series still the source material for the anime, we can expect Season 2 to start with the Clash of Titan Arc, where the battle at Utgard Castle takes place.
And finally, we will be able to watch the much-talked, overhyped first showdown between the Rogue Titan and the Armored Titan. By just seeing the trailer, I have to say the fight will go down as an epic in anime norm when it comes to one-on-one contest. That's how huge it's going to be.
It's yet to be confirmed if Season 2 will cover 25 episodes the same as its predecessor. If that's the case, Clash of Titans arc will be followed by the Uprising Arc, which will focus on the mysteries and political power struggle within the wall.
The Uprising arc will also reveal more chunks of details about Dr. Grisha Yeager and how Eren Yeager acquired the power of the Titan. The Reiss Family will also be making their debut along with their trusted assassin, Kenny Ackerman.
More Titan Shifters:
Two more titans will be making their debut in this Season. As you can see, the overpowering force of Monkey Titan has already been displayed in the teaser video, hurling the carcass of a horse towards Mike Zacharias. The Dancing Titan also made her strong anime debut as she dances around during her battle with titans at Castle Utgard.
Attack on Titan Season 2 will be airing starting April 2017 on MBS. It can also be streamed online through Funimation and CrunchyRoll.
