New details and spoilers for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" will feature a possible appearance by Gwen Stacy and Spidey not appearing in "Avengers: Infinity War".
Several rumors are making rounds regarding the possible appearance of Gwen Stacy in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general. This started on the first "Spider-Man: Homecoming" trailer during the school scene were in Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) were looking at Liz Allen (Laura Harrier) as she guides a number of students. One of the students, who does not look particularly thrilled to be on the tour, is a young, blonde girl with a headband and a sweater vest on over a white dress shirt.
Both the girl's wardrobe and her appearance matches with the traditional depictions of Gwen Stacy in the comics. Gwen Stacy is the first and true love of Peter's life before Mary Jane Watson came along. She is portrayed by "Jurassic World" star Bryce Dallas Howard in "Spider-Man 3" and "Easy A" star Emma Stane in "The Amazing Spider-Man" films.
In spite of the new Spider-Man movies taking place while Peter's high school life, Gwen was never discussed as a consideration for a major role in "Homecoming" due to the fact that "The Amazing Spider-Man" movies both heavily featured her including her supposed death.
Adding to the mystery of that brief sequence is the fact that the blonde girl does not have a speaking line, so it is entirely possible she is just a background actor who happens to be in the shot, and dressed like fans expect Gwen Stacy would dress up. She could also be an Easter egg, planted there to give fans a sense that the Spider-Man world includes Gwen, even if she is not a big part of the movie, ComicBook reported.
In other news, it seems that Spider-Man will not likely appear in the "Avengers: Infinity War" film as leaked casting sheet revealed who will be part of the sequel.
According to Movie Casting Call, the characters in the "Avengers: Infinity War" will include the original six members; Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner). This followed by the new members Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany).
The Avengers are also joined by the Guardians of the Galaxy, the debuting Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), T'Challa/Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Nebula (Karen Gillan).
One hero the Marvel fans will not see is Spider-Man as Tom Holland stated that negotiations are "still up in the air" for him. However, Holland told The Hollywood Reporter that Spider-Man will be "the kid" in the MCU as he is dragged into the conflict that normally a child will be amazed by it, and seeing the likes of Thanos (Josh Brolin) may prove "too much" for Peter Parker to process, who is still grappling with great power and great responsibility.
Despite all of that, there is still a chance that Spider-Man will join Earth's Mightiest Heroes in "Avengers 4" as Thanos might bring the fight to earth.
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" will be release on July 7, 2017.
