"Assassin's Creed" the movie is now out in theaters, which makes it the latest movie to attempt translating the video game to the silver screen. However, it seems that, like other video game adaptations that debuted in 2016, it has received a poor reception among critics.

Aside from "Assassin's Creed," video-game-turned-movies such as "Ratchet & Clank" as well as "Warcraft" have also received bad critic reviews. On the other hand, the "The Angry Birds Movie" seems to be the profitable movie based from a video game, making it the second highest grossing movie of its kind overall, as the 2001 movie "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" still takes the top spot.

The "Assassin's Creed" movie has approximately $125 million production budget,Game Rant has learned. However, the film failed in making a better impression among the United States audience, and its debut only gave it a fifth place among the movies released during the time period.

The movie was behind "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," "Sing," "Passengers," and "Why Him?" and it only earned an estimated value of $22.5 million during its first six days. However, while the film is having trouble in its domestic scene, it is having a greater degree of success outside U.S. due to its all-star foreign cast, which includes Irish-German Actor Michael Fassbender, French actress Marion Cotillard, and English Actor Jeremy Irons.

With this, in an interview with the Christian Science Monitor in June, associate professor of art and media arts program coordinator of the University of South Carolina Simon Tarr said that there has been no movie that came out and became successful both creatively and financially. Regardless, Hollywood is still going to try with an upcoming 2018 "Tomb Raider" movie.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft still intends to tie in some of the elements of the "Assassin's Creed" movie with the video game's universe. Still, what is currently known is that Ubisoft will take its time before it releases the next "Assassin's Creed" game to revolutionize it, so much that the company might delay its release to 2018.
