Bill Goldberg is expected to start to build on his 2017 Royal Rumble participation where a potential collision with Brock Lesnar looms yet again. Based on recent reports, it turns out that the actor/wrestler will be making 13 appearances before Wrestlemania 33 happens in April at Orlando, Florida.
Goldberg is scheduled to appear on the first episode of WWE Raw in 2017 on Jan. 2, 2017, Sky Sports reported. There is no telling how the former WCW/WWE legend will build his storyline though the name of Brock Lesnar should ring a bell.
Following a surprise win at the 2016 WWE Survivor Series, Lesnar is expected to exact some measure of revenge after losing yet again to Goldberg. The 49-year-old actor/wrestler is now up 2-0 with many believing that a third match makes no more sense.
The chances of Goldberg and Lesnar crossing paths at the Royal Rumble is high though the spotlight will not solely be on the two behemoths. There are 28 other stars in the mix, meaning seeing a one-on-one may not last for long.
Looking beyond the Royal Rumble, many are under the impression that this will set the stage for an anticipated rematch at Wrestlemania 33. Goldberg will reportedly make 13 appearances leading into Wrestlemania 33, Ringside News reported.
Taking out the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania 33 card, it will be interesting how the WWE creative team will book Goldberg. If there are indeed 13 matches set, such opens other feud possibilities.
The list could include Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins or even Kevin Owens, all current and rising starts that the WWE has to offer. Aside from that, there is that tricky question on whether Wrestlemania 33 would be it for the wrestling legend.
The WWE will obviously look to maximize the star power the Goldberg has brought since agreeing to don his tights at Survivor Series. And apparently, it all depends on how long the WWE fans would want to see the aging fighter.
Goldberg and the WWE have somehow found a way to co-exist despite a colored past. The extent of this partnership may very well shed more light after that big WWE spectacle taking place at the Camping World Stadium on Apr. 2, 2017.
