In an interview with the media, "Bates Motel" show boss Kerry Ehrin said "Bates Motel" Season 3 is taking its audience "to some really exciting places." The characters from Seasons 1 and 2 have grown and the alterations in behavior will be obvious in this third chapter.
"Norma is definitely becoming more aware and I think she has in many ways become stronger from everything she's had to endure and overcome for the last two seasons, and really for her whole life," Kerry Ehrin told ET Online.
"I feel like the storytelling just keeps getting better and better," Ehrin added, saying further that a major arc in the middle segment of "Bates Motel" Season 3 will cast the spotlight on Norma (Vera Farmiga) and for Dylan (Max Theiriot).
"Emma (Olivia Cooke) is finding out something that is breaking her heart," Ehrin also said in the same ET Online interview about the events to watch out for in "Bates Motel" Season 3.
"I've always said that [Norman Bates is] this nice guy and someone that we feel sympathy for and support to some extent," Highmore told Zap2It, explaining his POV on his character. "But perhaps in this third season we start to challenge our support for him," the young actor added.
Highmore's assessment that "darkness has really set in" in "Bates Motel" Season 3 tells the audience that the series adaptation is diving in deeper into the prequel of "Psycho," the iconic 1960 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. (The film is based on the 1959 book "Psycho" by Robert Bloch.)
"Bates Motel" Season 3 airs Mondays on A&E Network.
