The tvN fantasy series "Goblin" is one of the popular cable channel dramas given its unique storyline and a star-studded cast that includes Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook. Given the two actors' amazing on-screen chemistry, Gong and Lee's bromance was identified as one of the best pairings in the South Korean entertainment industry.
Gong and Lee have been entertaining avid Korean drama fans with their cute interactions in the tvN drama "Goblin." Also known as "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God," the drama tells the story of a cursed goblin and a grim reaper who has no memory of his past life.
The goblin Kim Shin and the grim reaper, portrayed by Gong and Lee, respectively, initially had a tense relationship where the two would fight over small things. However, their bickering soon turned into friendship although the two immortal characters still argue with each other like brothers.
Given the strong chemistry that Gong and Lee displayed in the fantasy drama, the two stars made it to the top three of the year's best bromances, according to tvN's "The List 2016," as cited by Korean news outlet Insight.
It appears that Gong and Lee's close bond started even before the two actors joined the tvN drama. Having met during their mandatory military service, the two celebrities remained friends after their first army meeting.
Despite the two "Goblin" stars closeness and on-screen chemistry, Gong and Lee only nabbed the third spot on the said list. The first place went to Ha Jung Woo and "Entourage" actor Jo Jin Woong.
In other news, the tvN drama continues to post steady viewership ratings and even topping a TV popularity chart for two weeks in a row. "Goblin" retained its top spot on the Content Power Index during the week period Dec. 5 until Dec. 11.
With a score of 313.9 points, the tvN drama remained at first place for the second consecutive week, according to entertainment company CJ E&M and Nielsen Korea, as cited by Yonhap News. The said series even bested its own record of 302.8 points posted during its debut week.
