Fans of "The Legend of the Blue Sea" will need to have more patience since the fantasy series' next episode was postponed. The SBS drama stars Lee Min-Ho and Jun Ji-Hyun as Heo Joon-Jae and Shim Chung.
On Dec. 28, Wednesday, SBS announced that "The Legend of the Blue Sea" episode 14, which was originally scheduled to air on Dec. 29, will be postponed to Jan. 4,2017, according to Naver, as cited by Soompi. Instead, an abridged edition of the SBS drama will be shown.
The special episode will be based on the romance between Shim Chung and Heo Joon-Jae from the Joseon dynasty until the 21st century. It will also allow viewers to skim through the first half of the 20-episode drama like watching a movie.
"We've created a special episode that will summarize the first half of the drama so that viewers can enjoy it like a movie before the second half of the drama kicks off," a source from SBS's drama division said. "The staff will do their best for the remainder of the drama to create a top-notch production every episode."
Despite the long wait, the spoilers and predictions for "The Legend of the Blue Sea" episode 14 are already here, giving fans a hint of what could come. It is said that Heo Joon-Jae's strained relationship with his biological father and step brother will be further explored in the upcoming episode.
Also, the danger posed to Shim Chung will be revealed. The character relationships and events, both present and past, are expected to become deeper and more intertwined as the show goes on.
"The Legend of the Blue Sea," which premiered on Nov. 16, is presently facing a storm of public criticism due to its slow plot development and similar storyline with the 2013-2014 hit drama "My Love from the Star." Despite that, the show managed to maintain its top spot as the most watched drama in the Wednesday-Thursday timeslot.
The drama's 13th episode, which aired on Dec. 28, Tuesday, had an average audience share of 18.4 percent, according to TNmS Ratings. It is 0.4 percent higher than that of the 12th episode, which scored viewership ratings of 18.0 percent.
