Microsoft is rumored to be working on Surface Pro 5 to replace Surface Pro 4. Fresh reports suggest that the Surface Pro 5 release date may be slotted in the first quarter of 2017.
The Surface Pro 4 was announced in October 2015. Now that it is over 1 year old, its successor is expected to release in 2017. According to DigiTimes, a Chinese publication Economic Daily News has revealed that the Redmond giant is aiming to announce a Surface Pro 5 in Q1 2017.
It also added the Surface Studio has met with strong sales without revealing any concrete information. The Windows 10 Creators Update would be arriving by spring 2017. Hence, rumors are indicating that he Surface Pro 5 would be releasing around the same time.
The predecessor models of Pro 5 were solely manufactured by Pegatron. However, fresh information suggests that Microsoft has also collaborated with Pegatron as well as Quanta Computer. The devices built by both the manufacturing companies are expected to deliver the same quality.
Ultra HD Display Expected
The publication has reported that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 would be arriving with Ultra HD screen that may carry support for 3840 x 2160 pixels.
USB Type-C Finally Arriving?
The Surface Pro 4 features legacy USB ports. The Redmond giant is expected to include USB Type-C port on Surface Pro 5.
Snapdragon 835 Chipset to Power It?
All the previous Surface Pro models have featured Intel chipsets, but new rumors hint that the Surface Pro 5 may be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset.
The Snapdragon 835 SoC that is expected to power most flagships of 2017 is also pegged to power Surface Pro 5. The reason behind it is that SD 835 is powerful enough to run full version of Windows 10 seamlessly.
Other Improvements
An improved stylus with magnetic charging support is expected to be available with Surface Pro 4 successor. The Surface Pro 4 has been criticized for its battery performance. Hence, its successor is expected to include an enhanced battery. It is also pegged to arrive with LTE connectivity, IBTimes Australia reported.
