Lucas Todesco has finally proven that his iOS jailbreaks are not simply for show following the release of Yalu iOS 10.1.1. The crack recently became available with Todesco joining hands with Ian Beer.
It should be noted that the Yalu iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak only works for specific Apple devices. This includes the iPhone 7/ 7 Plus, iPhone 6s/ 6s Plus and the iPad Pro, Cult of Mac reported. Other devices could be tested on though there is no word yet on whether it will function accordingly.
Ironically, it should be noted that the Yalu iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak is semi-tethered and comes with hiccups. With the crack unstable, it could lead to devices rebooting randomly or being left compromised. The iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak can be downloaded from the Yalu website.
The Yalu iOS 10.1.1 Jailbreak is technically in the beta stages, the reason behind the warnings. A .ipa file can be downloaded though most are advised to get the version 4-1 which supports Cydia.
A lot of Apple device owners will likely try out the crack, especially the ones who have not yet upgraded to the latest iOS 10.2. However, most are advised to wait a bit longer for a more stable release since it could eventually brick or leave affected Apple devices compromised.
Another cause for concern is the fact that Apple has made another cut on iOS signings. iOS 10.1.1 is no longer being signed, meaning iPhone or iPad owners could end up updating to iOS 10.2 even if it is against their plans.
Either way, this is a pretty positive development for folks who have been long in waiting for an iOS 10 jailbreak. The last working crack was iOS 9.3.3 from Pangu with most waiting for a successor.
Technically, the semi-tethered could be that solution though there are a lot of things to iron out. With iOS 10.1.1 in the books, it may be time to wait on a next crack – one for iOS 10.2. Another hacker, Stefan Esser recently trolled the Todesco breakthrough, leading many to believe he was working on an iOS jailbreak of his own.
