Ronda Rousey made her much-awaited return inside the Ultimate Fighting Championship Octagon for the first time in more than a year only to get demolished by Amanda Nunez in their UFC 207 title fight for the women's bantamweight division. Now that "Rowdy" has suffered her second straight title loss after winning her first 12 fights, it is unclear whether she would see mixed martial arts action again.
In previous interviews, Rousey has made it clear that she is already nearing the end of her MMA career and the Nunes's fight would be one of his last. Optimistic heading to the bout, Rousey looked like she never saw what was coming to her as her Brazilian foe ended their fight in just 48 second in the first round. The 29-year-old released a statement to ESPN that she needs to think about her future as she failed to reach her goal in her comeback fight: to win.
After she lost the bantamweight championship to Holly Holm in November 2015 at UFC 193, Rousey admitted to Ellen DeGeneres in her show that she had suicidal thoughts because of the impact of her defeat. Since then, she stayed low from the radar and instead focused on her television and film career with appearances in "Fighter in the Sky" and "Drunk History" this year.
It looks like acting would be the next career for Rousey as she was casted lead star for the remake of "Road House." The former Olympic judo bronze medallist could also fall back with a career in the World Wrestling Entertainment as she is a huge fan of the wrestling promotion, even taking her moniker from Roddy "Rowdy" Piper, according to Daily Mail.
If Rousey wants to keep being around the UFC, the MMA promotion could set a fight with her against Cris "Cyborg" Justino whom she had a history with. A fight between two of the most sought-after women's division fighters would mean massive revenue for the UFC and for the fighters themselves.
