Perennial contenders Manchester City FC (12-4-3, 39 points) will look to bounce back from their lackluster performance in the previous round of the 2016-2017 Premier League season as they clash with newly-promoted side Burnley FC (7-10-2, 23 points) at the Etihad Stadium on Monday, Jan. 2.

Manchester City snapped a three-game winning run as they were defeated by fellow title contenders Liverpool, 0-1, on the road at the Anfield last Saturday, as per the Telegraph.
Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum netted the only goal of the contest with a header in the eighth minute for the hosts off a brilliant cross by teammate Adam Lallana, handing head coach Pep Guardiola's men their third loss in their last six outings.
The loss dropped City to the fifth spot of the English top flight standings, temporarily holding the league's only Europa League qualifying berth. The Citizens are tied on points with fourth-place squad Tottenham Hotspur, but the latter has the higher goal differential to take the final Champions League spot at the moment.
Meanwhile, Burnley has won two straight games after crushing bottom three club Sunderland, 4-1, at their home ground of Turf Moor also last Saturday, the Daily Mail Online reported.
English striker Andre Gray was the man of the match for head coach Sean Dyche's squad as he unleashed a hat trick to lead last season's Football League Championship winners. Gray scored in the 31st, 51st, and 53rd minutes to give his side a 3-0 lead before teammate Ashley Barnes added another one in the 67th to complete the team's four-goal haul.
Sunderland was able to score a consolation goal in the 71st minute courtesy of English forward Jermain Defoe, who directed Adnan Januzaj's pass toward the back of Burnley keeper Tom Heaton's net.
