WWE SmackDown Jan. 3, 2017 Preview
WWE Title Match Contract Signing
A.J. Styles is set to defend his WWE championship at the Royal Rumble against John Cena. Styles outlasted Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin last week to retain his title and head into 2017 as the WWE champion.
On the other hand, Cena wants everyone to recognize who he is because his time is now. The two rivals are set to sign the contract for their title match at the Royal Rumble. Will there be tension between the two superstars despite their respectful handshake last week?
Intercontinental Championship Match
The Miz will defend his Intercontinental title against Dean Ambrose in the first-ever SmackDown Live of 2017. "The Lunatic Fringe" got the upper hand last week when he attacked The Miz backstage. Who will come out as the champion, The Miz or Ambrose?
Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler
Both Corbin and Ziggler came very close to dethroning A.J. Styles and become the WWE champion. Since they came up short of the title, they have to settle with battling each other as announced on WWE.com. The winner of this match gets the momentum he needs to start the year right.
Who is La Luchadora?
In last week's women's title match, the mysterious La Luchadora helped Alexa Bliss retain the championship against Becky Lynch. The question is who is La Luchadora? There are a lot of names being thrown around that could be under the mask like Mickie James, Tamina, Naomi, Eva Marie and Deonna Purrazzo.
No Time for Celebration
American Alpha shocked the world last week when they became the new SmackDown tag team championships. However, they have no time to celebrate since The Wyatt Family are looking to regain their belts back while The Usos and other teams on SmackDown are watching their every move.
