Mariah Carey had a disastrous performance on "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest" due to some technical difficulties. She went along with the choreography but did not do much singing during the six-minute set. She instead told the crowd of the sound issue.
"All I can say is Dick Clark was an incredible person," Carey told Entertainment Weekly. "And I was lucky enough to work with him when I first started in the music business.
The singer added Dick Clark would not let that happen to any artist. The incident does not deter the singer from doing live television in the future.
Carey learned a lesson and would be more cautious by becoming less trusting to anyone outside her team, she told the online news site. She thanked her fans and the media for their support.
After Carey broke her silence about the new year's microphone meltdown on Jan. 3, Tuesday, it was said her assistant reportedly did the sound check. The stage allegedly had eight speakers which made it possible to hear the track even without the earpiece. The sound was reportedly not the culprit of the mishap since everyone on stage heard the track, including the singer's dancers who were in step.
Carey did not do a sound check but did something like a dance rehearsal, co-host Jenny McCarthy who witnessed the event in Time Square claimed on her SiriusXM Show. McCarthy added that the singer was holding her gold microphone and stood off to the side of the stage.
The diva was said to be no-show for a private gig at Planet Hollywood where performers were set to play afterwards. The video of he performance went viral after being live on the East Coast. It remains unedited on the New Year’s Rockin Eve’s West Coast broadcast.
Meanwhile, the songstress has an upcoming tour with Lionel Richie for 35 dates from March, her first tour in North America in seven years. She will be doing many of her hits and she and Richie will give the fans few surprises as well.
