More and more children in England and Wales are now showing the early signs and symptoms of diabetes, posing serious lifelong health problems.
According to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, the annual reports revealed that despite the efforts of the health care professionals in London, the children living in the deprived cities of England and Wales are suffering from poor diabetes control.
In a survey, one out of five children with Type I diabetes is found to be obese, according to the Nursery World UK.
Dr. Justin Warner said, according to Yahoo News that the care they offer to children and adult in certain regions are improving. Warner, as the clinical lead for audit added that they are ensuring that the care-processes for the people in England and Wales are met.
It was a great challenge for Warner and the team of health care professionals because according to the results of the surveys they conducted, even if their efforts are also growing, the cases of diabetes in children are also increasing. Apart from diabetes, there are even other children who were detected to have early signs of other serious lifelong health problems.
London - the highest prevalence was detected among the young people residing in Wales and South West England, while the lowest prevalence was on some other parts of the country.
The research also arrived at a conclusion that aside from the diabetes control problem, most of those young people are found also to have symptoms of high blood pressure, symptoms of future kidney problems because of the high amount of excess protein in the urines, and another percentage of the population has a high risk for eye diseases that might lead to blindness.
Barbara Young, Diabetes UK Chief Executive pointed out that there should be a quick action from the NHS so that these affected children would be given the best chance to live longer and have a healthy life.
