Samsung has not yet revealed the Galaxy S8 during CES 2017 but there are leaked photos of the flagship smartphone surfacing. The release date of the device was also moved back several months.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to be a lifesaver for the South Korean tech giant after their Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. Unfortunately, the company seems to be taking their time to avoid further mishaps as the Galaxy S8 release date has been moved back to around the middle of the year instead of the early half.
In 2016, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were revealed at the Mobile World Congress event. It was expected that the successor would also have the same fate but Samsung has other plans.
Samsung will reveal the Galaxy S8 in early April with the actual release date set for April 18, Sam Mobile has learned. The flagship smartphone is expected to carry high-end specs such as a possible 4K screen thanks to the Bio Blue screen technology from Samsung themselves.
Other rumored Galaxy S8 specs also include 6GB LPDDR4 RAM and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC that has been recently announced. It may also feature the Iris Scanner that was also present in the late Galaxy Note 7 phablet.
Samsung may also start mass production of the Galaxy S8 in March, Value Walk reported. The company will reportedly produce 10 million units of the device before its launch a month later.
In terms of the Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, it will not stray too far from its predecessors' roll out in 2016. The delay will be roughly just more than a month but it may give competitors such as the iPhone 8 or the LG G6 an advantage.
Samsung Galaxy S8 specs and price may be revealed in an event separate from MWC 2017 considering the delay in the launch. More information about the flagship smartphone is expected soon.
