The new upcoming patch for "Overwatch" has brought some nerfs to some heroes. Patch 1.7 saw D.va and Roadhog getting remarkable changes.
Roadhog's hook has received some alterations while D.Va's armor and cannon damage got reduced. With the changes fully in effect, a certain degree of backlash was made from the game's fan base.
The reason behind the changes made is due to the fact that the competitive meta of the "Overwatch" game is dominated by tanks. Especially for D.Va, as her armor had no weaknesses, even when facing against heroes specializing against big targets such as Reaper.
Some of the fans took to the forums to voice their outcry as their response to the nerfs. However, game director Jeff Kaplan and chief designer Geoff Goodman took to some of the threads to give some clarification to the changes made to the two controversial heroes.
In a thread in the Blizzard forum, Goodman admitted that the Roadhog hook ability has some problems. He assured everyone that the fix for the ability will make its way to the Public Test Region (PTR) as well as an ability modification that allows him to throw opponents behind the hero as well as some additional effects.
In another thread from the same forum, Kaplan did his best to quell the worries of the players testing D.Va's changes. He said that only less than one percent of the players tested her changes in the PTR. Thus he encouraged players to give their opinion once her changes are applied to the main game.
It is not a new sight for players to be upset about balancing changes. It is understandable for players to be upset when their favorite characters are nerfed, regardless of whether or not the change is justified.
