If latest reports are anything to go by, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and Samsung Galaxy S7 are currently getting Android 7.0 Nougat update.
The new update has been rolled out to select smartphone users, according to a SamMobile report. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5, S6 Edge Plus, S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 are next in line for the Android Nougat update.
The move comes after Samsung confirmed the end of the Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S7 Beta testing program for the Android 7.0 N update.
Also, the tech company declared that it will be rolling out the final approved version of Android Nougat to owners of the devices in January. The release to a few select owners of the smartphones seems to be an initial soak test before the general release.
G935FXXU1DPLR is the number of the new build and it includes January's monthly security patch.
Earlier reports suggested that the Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S7 would be getting Android 7.0 Nougat. However, a representative of Samsung confirmed that the upgrade build for the Samsung devices once released would be Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and that the two smartphones would be skipping Android 7.0 N update for a direct release of the newer version.
However, a representative for Vodafone said that the build version of Android N released for the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and Samsung Galaxy S7 would differ according to region and model, and that owners in Australia would be getting the Android 7.0 Nougat update.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active was also spotted on GFXBench running Android 7.0 N.
The tech company has said that the Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S7 would be skipping Android 7.0 N for Android 7.1.1 N. However, the 7.1.1 Nougat update is yet to be seen running on any Galaxy S7 device.
Samsung has offered no guidance for the roll out of the Android Nougat update to the Galaxy S6 variants. However, previous reports have suggested that Samsung started working on the Android 7.0 N build for the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 months ago, therefore, it may not follow far behind the S7 Edge and S7 release.
What's more, it is expected that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be a timely recipient of Android Nougat once the current devices are updated.
