At the recent CES 2017 trade show, SanDisk fulfilled its mission of speed, capacity, and reliability on its storage devices after unveiling the Extreme Pro USB 3.1 and 256GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card. According to a recent press release of SanDisk, the Extreme Pro USB 3.1 is intended to be a "game-changer," as it provides tremendous rates of reading speeds up to 420mb/s and writing speeds of up to 380mb/s.

Following the press release, these massive lengths of speed can translate to 15 seconds or less of transferring full-length 4K movie. Users can also easily access this potential of the Extreme Pro USB because of its 3.1 interface that does not need cable.

"The combination of SSD performance and a compact USB form factor offers the ultimate performance and convenience for moving files easily and quickly," said Sven Rathjen, vice president of marketing, Client Solutions Business Unit, Western Digital.

The new drive is encased in a durable aluminum metal casing that can prevent handling and climate adversities, NDTV has learned. It also includes a retractable connector that promotes easy data transferring. SanDisk has also equipped its very own SecureAccess software in the drive, which allows password protection for contents.

On another note, SanDisk also revealed its Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card that can read data at a speed of up to 95mb/s. The microSD card meets the Application Performance Class 1 (A1) requirements from the latest SD 5.1 specifications, supported by the SC Association. The A1 certification will help the storage card to manage random read input-output access per second (IOPS) of 1,500 and write IOPS of 500.

Other added features on the new SanDisk microSDXC card include waterproof, shockproof, temperature-proof, and X-ray proof capabilities.

The SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.1 will be available in two storage variants: its 256GB storage variant costs $179.99 in the US while the 128GB's pricing remained unknown. The 256GB SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.1 flash drive will be available to buy from Amazon and Best Buy in the US, and 300,000 offline retailers across the globe.
