"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 will introduce Jackson Avery's (Jesse Williams) long-lost father in an upcoming episode.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, "Grey's Anatomy" cast member Sarah Drew said that details on who will play the character and when he will appear in the hit ABC series are still being kept under wraps.
Jackson was introduced in "Grey's Anatomy" in Season 6. Since then, only his mom, Catherine (Debbie Allen), has been shown in the episodes. Catherine also happens to be one of the heads at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, and she is in a relationship with Dr. Webber (James Pickens Jr.).
It is also unclear why Jackson's dad will resurface after so many years of being MIA. But by the looks of it, his arrival will bring tension not only in the life of his son, but also in Catherine and Dr. Webber's relationship.
Meanwhile, it is very possible that Jackson's dad will appear in the standalone April (Drew) - Jackson episode of "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13. Drew revealed that her character and Jackson will head to Montana for a patient's case.
"I can tease that there is a real turning point that happens for the two of them. They are forced to be in the same space working together with no distraction outside the norm, outside of anybody that they know, outside of any of the history. They are going through something pretty big. They do not start off on the best place when we find them on the journey," Drew explained.
April and Jackson's episode will air on "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 sometime in March, according to Refinery 29. It was also directed by cast member Kevin McKidd. Overall, Drew is very happy and proud of the episode.
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 will return to ABC with episode 10 on Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. EST.
