"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 star Jerrika Hinton may be leaving the hit ABC series after playing the role of Dr. Stephanie Edwards for a couple of years. Some fans believe that Hinton is ready to move on to a different project because her character was not really given that many storylines in the series.
According to TV Line, Hinton will be taking the lead role in HBO's upcoming TV show by Alan Ball. In the series, Hinton will give life to the character of Ashley, one of the adopted children of the Bishops. The family is a multi-racial made up a philosophy professor father and a lawyer wife. They have one biological daughter named Colombia, and three adopted ones, namely, Ashley, Somalia and Vietnam.
Ashley is born in the United States and was adopted by the Bishops when her mom passed away, and her dad got deported. However, she is now struggling with her cultural identity.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Hinton was tapped to star in a project outside of "Grey's Anatomy." In March 2016, the actress was also confirmed to play the lead role in Shonda Rhimes' upcoming TV series, "Toast." However, Rhimes previously confirmed that she wants Hinton to appear in both of her TV show so she would not have to leave "Grey's Anatomy."
Unfortunately, two months after its announcement, TV Guide reported that "Toast" was not picked up by ABC. However, this does not mean that "Toast" is gone for good since Rhimes can propose it to other television networks. It is just a bit weird that Rhimes will not be teaming up with ABC considering all of her current TV shows airs on the network.
In other news, "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 will return to ABC on Jan. 19 at 8 p.m EST. As of late, there are still no confirmed storylines for Dr. Edwards. Her biggest one from the previous season had to do with a patient that she got into a relationship with, but eventually passed away.
