Mercurial squad Celta de Vigo (7-7-3, 24 points) will look to build a new winning run as they meet newly-promoted team Deportivo Alaves (5-5-7, 22 points) in a 2016-2017 La Liga season match at the Balaídos Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 15.

Celta Vigo managed to snap a three-game winless streak last Sunday also at their home field of Balaídos after pulling off a 3-1 rout of reeling squad Malaga, as per Sofa Score.

Head coach Eduardo Berizzo's side started early with a seventh-minute right-footer by Spanish striker Iago Aspas from the center of the box to the top left corner of Malaga keeper Carlos Kameni's net.

Celta remained in the ninth spot of the league table even after the win, 12 points above the bottom three relegation area. They are now tied on points with eighth-place team Las Palmas but has a lesser goal differential.

Meanwhile, Alaves pulled off a fifth consecutive unbeaten performance as they held contending squad Athletic Bilbao to a 0-0 draw on the road at the San Mames Stadium also last Sunday, via SkySports.

It was the third drawn match by head coach Mauricio Pellegrino's boys during their five-game undefeated run as the team is now settled in the 12th spot of the Spanish top flight table. They are only two points behind Celta Vigo in the standings.
