The Undertaker once held one of the most prestigious streaks in all of sports entertainment. He went undefeated for an unprecedented 21 WrestleMania matches beginning at the seventh installment of the annual event way back in 1991. Brock Lesnar eventually ended his streak in WrestleMania 30.

Lesnar's defeat of the Undertaker has been described as one of the most shocking results in all of sports history. A lot of fans were vehemently opposed to the result, although there were the few who defended it. WWE CEO Vince McMahon had his own reasons for ending the streak, which he revealed in an interview with Pro Wrestling Torch.

I believed it would make a huge deal out of Brock Lesnar to set up WrestleMania 31, McMahon revealed in the interview. When questioned why he specifically chose Lesnar to end the streak, he stated that he did not see any other candidates on the roster down the road.

McMahon also revealed that the Undertaker was at first shocked with the decision to put a stop to his winning ways at WrestleMania. However, he soon accepted that this was what had to happen and considered it as a way to give back to the business.

Now that the Undertaker is back to his winning ways at "the grandest stage of them all" in professional wrestling, there has been a lot of talk regarding his opponent this year. So far, there are five viable candidates to potentially add to the Undertaker's loss column at WrestleMania 33.

The first is Roman Reigns. He is the wrestler who the WWE is constantly trying to make the new face of their company. This is one of the primary reasons why the WWE may bill an Undertaker vs. Reigns matchup at this year's WrestleMania.

As the Undertaker nears his retirement, it would be wise for the WWE to popularize another wrestler who fits in his "big man" billing. This is why it would be a good move for the WWE to pit the up and coming Baron Corbin against the Undertaker at WrestleMania 33.

Braun Strowman is another possible opponent. In fact, a match between him and the Undertaker was reportedly in the works for Wrestlemania 32, according to Wrestle Zone, but online backlash forced the WWE to scrap the idea. It may not be gone for good though, as there is a good chance that this bout will happen at this year's edition of the event.

If AJ Styles manages to hold on to the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, then a match between him and the Undertaker would be plausible. A veteran taking on a hotshot rookie could prove to be a good angle for the WWE to take.

Finally, the WWE could consider pinning two fan favorites together. John Cena is - once again - being touted to take on the Undertaker at WrestleMania 33. If this long-rumored matchup does not happen, then it probably will not at the next edition of the annual event, as both wrestlers are nearing the end of their prestigious careers.
