AMD Ryzen CPU line-up, specs, price, and release have been highly anticipated by gamers. With the upcoming Game Developers Conference next month, it seems like enthusiasts will finally gain other necessary details of the Zen based processor.
Important details about the Ryzen processors were revealed during the CES event. The key specs which were added to the list of information about the Zen based architecture included its unlocked and overclocking capabilities, AM4 compatibility, and confirmed highest core count.
However, apart from the recently digested CES information concerning the Ryzen processor, other relevant details remain to be elusive. The launch details of Ryzen CPU and its variants has not yet come to fore.
Interestingly, recent reports suggest that Ryzen processors will likely be launched before March 3 of the current year, according to PC World. The same website suggested that although the exact time and date is yet to be determined, Ryzen CPUs will likely be launched around February 27 through March 3, in consonance with the GDC 2017.
The said information regarding the launch period of AMD Ryzen has been associated to a GDC event schedule slip-up as mentioned by WCCF Tech. Although the AMD was quick to correct the error, the said website was able to obtain a screenshot before the correction was made.
Since Ryzen is expected to be an effective marketing and sales material for AMD, its launch date remains a top secret for the company. On the other hand, its impending clash against Intel has already been predicted by most experts, particularly on Ryzen's quad-core version.
The quad-core versions of Ryzen will serve as the clash point against Intel's i3 and i5 variants. It would serve as a threat against Intel, especially if the quad-core version will be able to clock much higher and will have hyper threading, as highlighted by the same website.
Consequently, concerning the price of the upcoming AMD Ryzen CPUs, most rumors and speculations suggest that it would be within a value oriented price point. Thus, suggesting that Ryzen processors will likely be much lower than Intel CPUs in terms of price, but not in performance. As speculated recently, Ryzen processors might be within a $400 to $500 price range.
