Codemaster has announced the coming of "DiRT Rally," the highest rated racing game on the PS4, to PlayStation VR in a period of two weeks. The new Virtual reality DLC upgrade to all current players will be available for the reasonable price of £9.99 on the PlayStation Store.
According to Press Start, the PS4 "DiRT Rally" PlayStation VR DLC will provide "a full immersive off-road experience." In addition, the update will have a new co-driver mode, dubbed co-op multiplayer mode, for the rally sections of the game.
This addition is of great importance as it will enable a second player to use the DualShock 4 touchpad and buttons to enhance pace note calls to the driver from the social screen. This is enabled by the use of the buttons and touchpad available. Just like with real life co-driving, timing and accuracy are vital in order for you to complete the stage in the best time possible. Unlike the VR update for Trackmania Turbo, a much different sort of racing game, Rally's VR mode will reportedly supports every route, discipline, and car in the game.
Codemasters will also avail a new physical version of "DiRT Rally" that packages the game along the PlayStation VR DLC. The developer released a trailer that provides a taste of how the rally race will be like from a cockpit perspective.
According to Game Spot, "DiRT Rally" also provides VR support for PCs though the PS4 version will also enable a special multiplayer feature. However, an official Twitter feed from "DiRT" account has stated that this feature will only be made possible in the PS4 version with no plans to bring this to PC or anywhere else.
In the announcement, Chief Games Designer of "DiRT Rally," Paul Coleman said that the PlayStation®VR upgrade allows players to get closer than ever to the experience of being a real life rally driver. "The addition of the co-driver mode allows you to work together with a friend to get through the stage and adds an even deeper level of realism and immersion to the rally stages," Coleman added.
