Samsung's Galaxy A5 smartphone will be soon be carrying the latest Android 7.0 Nougat firmware after the device is spotted recently in a benchmarking website.
The Samsung smartphone is running the latest Google operating system when it surfaced in GeekBench database. On the said listing, the tested A5 (2016) model carries an SM-A525F model number, a variant of the A5 (2017) device.
However, in the GeekBench listing, A5's model number does not match its actual specifications, Phone Arena reported. The Galaxy A5 2017 (SM-A525F) model is powered by an Exynos 7880 chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM, while the device revealed in the listing runs an Exynos 7580 chipset backed by 2GB of RAM.
Reports claim that the specs of the device in the listing suggest a possible Galaxy A5 (2016) handset. The phone that was tested housed an octa-core CPU running at a speed of 1.6GHz. In addition, the device scored 636 points in a single-core, and 3,218 points in the multi-core test, which indicates that it is the older Galaxy A5 (2016) device.
The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) was release in December 2015, alongside the Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A3. The Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 smartphones were initially released with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system.
Specs-wise, the Samsung A5 (2016) features a 5.2-inch Full HD screen in 1920 x 1080 pixels of resolution, Android Headlines reported. In its internal chassis, the handset powers a Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor, coupled with an internal memory of 16GB, with 10.8GB user-available data.
In its optics department, the device sports a 13-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.9 aperture and OIS. Its front-facing camera is a 5-megapixel snapper. Its battery information claims a 2900 mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner security suite, which is embedded in the device's Home button.
After the recent appearance in Geekbench, customers should expect the Android 7.0 Nougat update to arrive soon in the A5 (2016) device, while more devices could also receive the latest OS in the future.
In other news, Android 7.0 Nougat is said to be the smoothest operating platform released by Google, which offers several new features and enhancements on interface and functionality, such as the split-screen feature.
