Roman Reigns has been built as the next face of the WWE but most of the fans still boo him out of the building. He is the most polarizing figure in the wrestling industry at the moment and he recently made history by being named as the "Most Hated" wrestler of 2016.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated just announced their yearly award winners and Reigns was voted as the "Most Hated" wrestler of the year. It was a historic win for "The Big Dog" because he became the very first babyface to win the award, per Wrestling Inc.
Some of the superstars who have been named "Most Hated" include Ric Flair, Randy Savage, Hollywood Hogan, Triple H, Edge, Chris Jericho, The Nexus, Randy Orton, CM Punk, The Authority and Seth Rollins. All of those names mentioned were all heels when they voted as "Most Hated" wrestler, unlike Reigns.
According to Alfred Konuwa of Forbes, Reigns being voted by fans as the "Most Hated" wrestler is a good thing. He noted that Reigns is a big star and even though he gets booed a lot, the three-time WWE champion is the realest thing in the world of wrestling.
Konuwa also pointed out that almost all the superstars voted as the "Most Hated" wrestlers are Hall of Famers and future Hall of Famers. It means Reigns is on the right track to become one of the best ever but the WWE still needs to book him even better.
