During the Nintendo Switch presentation its was confirmed several brand new IPs such as "Arms" and "Snipperclips, Cut it Out Together" will launch for the system. However, it will also be bringing back classics with new features and one of them is Capcom's "Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers."
The game will be yet another update for "Street Fighter II," which originally released back in 1991 for arcades. It received multiple console ports and updates over the years, with the latest being "Street Fighter II: HD Remix" for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
"Ultra Street Fighter II" will carry all of the updates from the HD remix. This includes HD visuals drawn by UDON Entertainment, remixed music and the roster will include Cammy, Fei Long, T-Hawk and Dee Jay from the latter editions of the game.
Fans not in favour of the new visuals will have the option to turn it off and use the original pixel-art graphics of the original. When the game plays with the HD graphics turned on the game plays with a widescreen ration. When played with retro graphics, the game utilizes a 4:9 screen ratio.
Specific to the Switch are the options to play as Evil Ryu and Violent Ken. Evil Ryu has been featured in other "Street Fighter" games like "Ultra Street Fighter IV" and is a version of Ryu who has succumbed to the power of the Dark Hadou.
"Violent Ken is the result of M. Bison kidnapping and brainwashing Ken, enhancing his abilities with Psycho Power and twisting his brotherly rivalry with Ryu into hatred," Capcom revealed in its official site. "Violent Ken is more ruthless, aggressive, and fearless with moves that feature purple flames instead of his signature fire."
Playing on the Switch will allow players to use the Joy-Cons to play versus matches the traditional way or to play cooperatively against the CPU, Game Spot reported. The game has also been confirmed to be playable on all Switch modes: TV mode, tabletop or handheld.
No official release date has yet been announced for "Ultra Street Fighter II" but it is expected to release within the year. The official trailer can be viewed below:
