Girls' Generation's Seohyun has finally debuted as a solo singer on Jan. 16 with title track "Don't Say No". Her first ever solo EP is released on Jan. 17.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Seohyun's first EP album "Don't Say No" includes seven new songs. It was revealed her title track was co-written by SM Entertainment's in-house composer Kenzie, Canadian composer Matthew Tishler and American musician Felicia Barton. Moreover, Seohyun also collaborated with Eric Nam for the song "Hello".
The article revealed the singer wrote six out of the seven songs in the album. According to Seohyun, "The overall theme of the album is 'love.' I told (the company) that I wanted to write the words for the entire album to show 100 percent of my emotion."
She also expressed her excitement when one of her songs was approved noting that SM Entertainment, her agency and company which released her first EP album, had strict standards when it comes to content quality.
Prior to her debut, Seohyun candidly shared how she sought the advice of fellow Girls' Generation members who launched their respective solo careers namely, Taeyeon, Tiffany and Hyoyeon. In an article by Soompi, the maknae or youngest member of Girls' Generation talked about the support given by her group members on her solo debut showcase on Jan. 16.
"They [were] kind of scared of telling me it [solo debut] would be really different compared to the nine years of being a member of Girls' Generation, and it would be more nerve-wracking. But they also showed their support for me and told me I would do well," Seohyun said.
The singer added that while filming her music video, she even sent selfies to her group members who commented and gave her encouragement. "They showered me with praises and said [that] I look pretty and that the concept fits me well. It gave me a lot of strength. It made me feel like I wasn't alone, even when I was," Seohyun said.
