In the aftermath of the awaited showdown between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors, the NBA trade rumors feature a player that could pique the interest of both superteams.
As the trade deadline approaches, some teams have already made up their minds about this season. According to a Bleacher Report feature, the Orlando Magic is one of the teams that could probably hold a "fire sale" at the trade deadline.
Writer Adam Fromal mentioned the Magic in his list of teams that are likely to become sellers at the trade deadline and he specified the players that the Magic are likely to be included.
"If a team comes calling about Nikola Vucevic or Bismack Biyombo, general manager Rob Hennigan should be amenable-within reason. If someone wants Jodie Meeks or D.J. Augustin to bolster a backcourt, that should be a request that's received nicely," Fromal mentioned.
Both the Warriors and the Cavaliers need a defensive big man or a rim protector and Bismack Biyombo placed himself on the NBA radar in his performance last year. It also won him a big contract from the Magic.
In the Fansided blog King James Gospel, they noted that the Cavaliers do need a rim protector, especially after the intense demolition they got from the Golden State Warriors, getting beat by 35 points.
"The Cavaliers are for starters blocking just 4.1 shots per game which is 24th best in the NBA. Along with that, the Cavaliers are 22nd in the NBA in opponents second chance points. At 13.8 points given up, it continues to look like the Cleveland Cavaliers could use another big to backup Tristan Thompson."
For the Warriors, they might be on top of the world right now (at the top of the NBA at least) and they may forego the quest for a rim protector in favor of keeping the status quo-for now, at least.
The Cavs may have to part with some of their firepower-Iman Shumpert is often mentioned as the trade chip and with the Kyle Korver trade and the return of JR Smith, they might send him off to get Biyombo. The Cavs are unlikely to trade Tristan Thompson and the Magic traded away Channing Frye so it might be a challenge for them to pull this off.
