After "Twilight" ended four years ago, fans of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are still hoping that a possible reunion between the former onscreen and real life partners could happen. It seems that this dream could still become a reality, according to a Lionsgate executive.
"Twilight" is a global blockbuster with more than $3 billion gross sales at the box office. After the last saga ended in 2013, no franchise has ever replaced the record of the Stewart and Pattinson starrer. Rumors about a "Twilight" sequel have been hitting the headlines over the years and this time, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairperson Patrick Wachsberger dropped hints about the possible reunion of the former couple.
"It's a possibility," Wachsberger told Screen Daily. "Not a certainty but it's a possibility. It's about Stephenie [novelist Stephenie Meyer]. If she wants to tell a story related to those characters we're here for her."
Pattinson previously expressed his willingness to do a follow-up of the hit franchise. Stewart on the other hand, admitted that she battled "debilitating anxiety" while filming the "Twilight" movies. Whether Stewart and Pattinson will reunite for a future "Twilight" film still remains a big question.
In an interview with The New York Times in 2016, Stewart revealed that their fans wanted her and the British actor, who played Edward Cullen, to be together in real life that their bond had eventually became unreal. She added that it is something that she does not want for the sake of entertainment.
In 2008, Stewart and Pattinson were cast as Bella Swan and Edward of "Twilight" respectively. In 2009, rumors that the popular "Twilight" co-stars were dating started when they were spotted holding each other hand. At that time, she was still dating Michael Angarano.
The former couple ended their romance in 2013 after her public scandal with "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders came out. Soon, Stewart dated French singer Soko that only lasted for a couple of months. The "Personal Shopper" star also had a relationship with her assistant Alicia Cargile for a few years and was also linked to Cara Delevingne's ex-girlfriend, St. Vincent.
Pattinson is still engaged to his fiancée FKA Twigs. Since splitting with Stewart, the "Harry Potter" actor has remained mum on his romance with Twigs. Watch a video below that talks about a possible Stewart and Pattinson "twilight" reboot:
